WebTrain is the major corporate sponsor of Project Lancelot. This 2-year development project will create a certificate program documenting the qualifications required to be a live online language teacher. The program involves 23 partners in 8 countries across Europe.
Entering a virtual classroom setting has proven to be a challenge at times for trainers and students alike - and the challenge isn't merely a technical one. But where does an instructor or trainer learn to master online training sessions? What are the technological pre-requisites and how can he/she acquire skills necessary to conduct interactive lessons?
These are the questions raised in an EU-funded development project called LANCELOT in the framework of LEONARDO DA VINCI, Language Competence II. LANCELOT (LANguage learning by CErtified Live Online Trainers) aims to develop a course curriculum for language trainers who use virtual classroom technology to conduct interactive live language lessons.
The deliverables of the project are:
We at WebTrain are proud that our Communicator™ web conferencing solution promotes these essential skills, and we will publish further news releases updating the progress of this exciting project as they occur.
This past July 2006, WebTrain was chosen as the Veteran's Business Training Center's online training technology partner. This partnership provides American veterans the opportunity to participate in an intensive 15-week online program wherein they are trained on VoIP contact center - call center software applications and communication platforms during the course of their training. In effect, this provides these combat wounded and disabled veterans with the skills they will need to be an active part of the global market place with confidence and success.
Within weeks of implementation, the training program and WebTrain's collaboration solution were received well by both students and teachers alike. Before long, the initial class of students increased threefold; and currently there are an additional 2000 applications for entry into the program. With over 26 million veterans in the US, everyone feels this is just the beginning of their planned growth. The great success of this program is in due in part to the elimination of costly and arduous traveling obstacles through the use of WebTrain's unique collaborative platform which allows students to be able to hear, to speak, to see, to share, and to learn within a special community of disabled veterans--regardless of their geographical location. For the first time, veterans who have been displaced after returning from war are now able to reconnect with their brothers and sisters within an online community.
Furthermore, Purple Heart has taken the idea of an online community to the next level in which they are offering a virtual chapel, virtual AA, and virtual NA for veterans across the world. Mr. Zrenejad, Purple Heart Foundation Training Director said "Because of the solution WebTrain has offered, we are reaching, and communicating with disabled American veterans around the globe. We present a beacon of hope, a light, a true second chance to the combat wounded to serve their nation again."
